Our Manx Loaghtan sheep were introduced to a Bowmont Merino ram, with a fleece of 17 -18 microns.

The results have been amazing, creamy white fleeces from the first cross with staple length of 6 – 10cm, beautiful lustre, and lightness to the touch.

The next cross introducing a Bowmont Merino / Manx Loaghtan ram to Manx Loaghtan ewes, is when colour begins to appear again in the fleeces, from black to moorit (fawn) and greys.

This is the range of beautiful shades that we use to produce yarns for our knitting kits and also our rovings.

We feel that by breeding for unique fleeces on the sheep, rather than blending fleeces from different breeds, that we create a significantly more consistent fleece in type and texture.

These sheep, now a breed in their own right, we have called “Bowman”, reflecting their foundation breeds

These are for collection only but we are able to pack in a box if you can arrange collection / carriage at your own expense.

Manx Loaghtan fleeces will generally weigh between 1 1/2  and 2 Kg 

Bowman fleeces will generally weigh between 2 1/2Kg  and  3Kg.
