We keep Manx Loaghtan sheep, native to the Isle of Man, classed as primitives and thought to go back to Viking roots.
They are an unusual breed as they have a glorious toffee coloured fleece, classed as moorit, which lightens at the tips due to the bleaching of the sun.
They are a multi horned breed and can carry anything from two to six horns, although two and four are generally more often seen.
As a new venture we have added some Bowmont, known as the British Merino, to our breeding programme. By crossing some of with our Manx Loaghtan ewes we have the beginning of our flock of “Bowmans”
By breeding unique fleeces on our sheep, rather than blending fleeces from different breeds to create colours, we produce yarns with lovely textures throughout and with individual characteristics.
